Nana Joshi, Artist

Shri Nana Joshi is a artist and illustrator from Pune, India. At the peak of his career he has illustrated for thousands of books and magazines. He specialises in watercolour, but has also done a lot of work in black and white line drawings. Figure drawing is his speciality, but in recent times he has also drawn numerous landscapes. Here we showcase some of his work. You can read about Nana Joshi here.

पुण्यातील नामवंत चित्रकार नाना जोशी यांची ही वेबसाइट. हजारो पुस्तके आणि मासिकांमध्ये त्यांची चित्रे गाजली. वॉटरकलर मध्ये त्यांचा हातखंडा असला तरी त्यांनी अनेक कृष्णधवल चित्रे देखील काढली आहेत. त्यांनी काढलेले चेहेरे आणि मानवी आकृत्यांना तोड नाही. अलिकडील काळात त्यांनी अनेक लॅंडस्केपदेखील काढली आहेत. येथे नाना जोशींबद्दलची माहिती आणि काही चित्रे पहावयास मिळतील. त्यांच्याबद्दलची आधिक माहीती येथे मिळेल.

A Visual Interpretation of Kalidas’ Meghadūta

For the Menaka Diwali issue of 1979, Artist Nana Joshi created nine colour visualisations of verses from the Meghadūta (मेघदूत, also spelled as Meghdoot). Nana Joshi’s original visualisations were based on the Marathi translation of Meghadūta by poet Kusumagraj.
